Words are energy and cast spells, that’s why it’s called spelling. Spelling is the backbone of a language, without it our written communication would be weak and unimpressive.
On October 2, 2024, the English Department of NC Primary hosted the highly anticipated “Spell Bee” competition, aimed at promoting linguistic skills, enriching vocabulary, and building students’ confidence. The event commenced with the National Anthem, filling the multipurpose hall with a sense of pride and unity. Our honorable Executive Director, Sir G.C. Tripathi, delivered an inspiring speech and encouraged students to embrace the challenges in the presence of our esteemed Principal, Ma’am Neeti Tripathi, and all the coordinators. The enthusiastic audience of teachers and parents expressed their support through cheers and applause.
Students from grades 1 to 5 participated in the competition by forming six groups: The Spellbinders, The Word Wizards, Linguistic Legends, Alphabet Avengers, Vocabulary Victors, and Ortho Champs. Each group, comprising five talented students, showcased their teamwork and determination. The competition consisted of five challenging rounds—Spell Spectacular, Media Melody, Mix & Match Madness, Guess the Gap, and Verbal Enigma—designed to test the participants’ spelling abilities. As the rounds progressed, the difficulty of words increased significantly, featuring terms like “Bougainvillea,” “Acquiesce,” and “Andromeda,” challenging the students’ quick thinking under a strict 20-second time limit.
As the competition reached its climax, the atmosphere in the room was palpable. Principal Ma’am took a moment to present participation certificates to each group leader to acknowledge their hard work. The suspense heightened until she announced the winner: “Vocabulary Victors.” The group erupted in jubilant cheers as they received their well-deserved certificates, marking a triumphant conclusion to the event.
The day ended with a heartfelt vote of thanks from our Section Coordinator, Miss Amrin Husain, celebrating the spirit of knowledge and growth fostered throughout the competition.
