“A reader lives a thousand lives, before he dies. The man who never reads, lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin

Books open doors to imagination, knowledge, and creativity. To instill a lifelong love for reading, CIDER International School organises the Reader’s Club, a monthly initiative that brings together young learners and their parents for an enriching literary experience.

On 18th of February, 2025, the Reader’s Club session for NC Pre-Primary took place at CIDER’s Library, brimming with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity. The event commenced at 9:00 AM with KG students and their parents, continuing until 9:40 AM. Following this, Playgroup and Nursery students were accompanied by their parents. The session was engaged from 9:45 AM to 10:25 AM. The library transformed into a haven of storytelling and shared literary exploration as parents and children delved into captivating storybooks of their choices.

The main goal of the session was to inspire a love for reading by letting children choose their own books, encouraging curiosity and independent thinking. Parents played an important role by reading aloud and discussing the stories with their children. Their involvement made the session more enjoyable and created lasting memories.

The event was full of warmth and engagement with the present parents, the students, and the facilitators by celebrating the joy of books together. The sparkle in the children’s eyes reflected the true value of these gatherings as they joyfully immersed themselves in the stories.

The Reader’s Club highlighted that books are not just for learning but also for guiding us on our intellectual journey. This session showed the power of reading, strengthening the bond between the parents and the children, while helping young minds grow through storytelling.

“There is no friend as loyal as a book.” – Ernest Hemingway
