With huge festivity and enthusiasm NCS Senior Section of CIDER International School organized a two-day long Inter-House Cricket Tournament on last Saturday and Sunday dated 24th and 25th February, 2024 in our school field. The Executive Director and Principal of the school, Mr. Gyanesh Chandra Tripati, inaugurated the tournament with the coordination of Mr. Abu Sayeed, head of the Department of English. The Section Coordinator of NCS, Miss Mukti Chowdhury, was also present there along with other members of the Sports Committee. The names of the houses in the tournament are Dragon, Unicorn, Griffin and Phoenix House.
There were six matches in group stage.
In the first match, Dragon House defeated Griffin House by 6 wickets. In this match, Rahil, one of the players from Dragon house, achieved Man of the Match. In the second match, Unicorn House defeated Phoenix House by 61 runs. In that game, Tousif from Unicorn House achieved Man of the Match. In the third play, Griffin House defeated Phoenix House by 5 wickets. Zawad from Griffin House secured the position of Man of the Match in this game. In the fourth game, Unicorn House defeated Dragon House by 30 runs. Aynaan, from Unicorn House, achieved Man of the Match. In the fifth match, Griffin House won by 2 wickets defeating Unicorn House. In this game, Zawad again achieved Man of the Match from Unicorn house. In the sixth game, Dragon House defeated Phoenix House by six wickets. Fahami, from Dragon House, achieved Man of the Match.
The top listed teams from all the groups were Dragon and Unicorn Houses respectively and they both played the final match.
The Executive Director and Principal of CIDER International School inaugurated the final match releasing balloon and festoon in the air. In the presence of Executive Director and Principal and both the captains, Wali and Anas, from Dragon and Unicorn House, a coin was flipped. Dragon House won the toss and chose to ball first. Unicorn House scored 82 run by 8 overs. Tousif scored the highest, 31 runs, for Unicorn House. To chase 83 runs, Dragon house lost all the wickets by 5 overs and scored 35 runs. As a result, Unicorn House became champion for the first time and got the glory of a huge victory by 47 runs. Sohan from Unicorn House achieved Man of the Match and he made a hat-trick. Tousif became the Man of the Series by scoring 94 runs and 11 wickets.
After the match, both the champion and the runner-up teams got their trophies from the hands of the Executive Director and Principal of the school. During the prize giving ceremony, Section Coordinator Miss. Mukti Chowdhury, Grade Level Coordinators, Miss Papri and Mr. Rezaul, Activity Coordinator, Mr. Sattonjoy and respected teachers were present there. Mr.Sayeed and Mr.Shimul managed the whole programme.
