CIDER International School (Junior School) has recently showcased its excellent little musical talents on their newly built auditorium catering all types of music from classical to modern, from the Eastern Regional to the Western Metal, from local classical rhythm to international polyrhythms. This short but crispy and twisting musical package has blown up the minds of many audiophiles who attended the fest to encourage the little rocksters. Even the strong personality possessing Mr Nader Khan, the Chairman of the institution and a patron of art and culture, has enjoyed a lot seeing the tiny performers who just rocked the show. Mr Newaaz, one of the founding members of legendary rock band Souls, was the chief guest and seeing him in front of eyes, many of the music lovers, including the parents and other guests, were getting nostalgic and returning to the good old days of rock history of Bangladesh.

The show started with the colourful age of British Rock band, Queen’s song, “We Will Rock You” and the entire audience was stunned and amazed observing students of Class 3 – 5 were playing drums, guitars, keyboard and most importantly, their metal voices. Really they rocked and no one could imagine before that they are going to witness such kind of rhythms in those tiny hands on drums and guitars just like the professional metal performers. After that astounding performance, the next group danced to sky and entertained with full of their potentialities. Well, the popular idea about Music Fest is songs and dances but something more is waiting for the audience. A group of little veterans of stage who left behind the stage fear long ago performed an awe inspiring pantomime stating a message, “Can you be happy now your people are free?”

The medley was really a breath-catching one where the musicians rhymed from 1970’s to 2010’s, from Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” to Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care about us.” It seemed like Iron Maiden’s Bruce, Metallica’s James or Black Sabbath’s Ozzy were performing live and the departed souls of Michael Jackson has fall upon them to perform. Such a Renaissance!

Finally, it was the teachers’ and admins’ turn; after maintaining a jam packed schedule and workload, they have come up on stage with a professional tone of classical, hip-hop, reggae and jazz which mesmerized the listeners in such a way that some of the school staffs who were sick and going under the treatment in the school’s infirmary, somehow managed to take a seat at the back of the auditorium to be a witness in the history if CIDER! This indicates the undeniable triumphs and the real zeal of professionalism ever focused in this school’s history.

The euphoric mania was contagious in such a way that some of the parents who attended as the guests sprang up from their seats to perform on the stage. That was the real lovely part of the event how it touched the audience.

The persons who were behind the stage and played the role of directors were the cool music lover, the honourable Principal, Mr G C Tripathi and the Nucleus of the Junior School, the heart-throbbing Vice Principal, Ms Neeti Tripathi who constantly supported the entire Music Fest Team and came up with their great ideas and huge basket of experiences and made the show successful. The front liners are the Department of Music and Dance, along with, Mr Neaz and Mr Alex passed some sleepless nights to make the day a memorable one.

Once upon a time, there used to be such kind of festivals and practicing art and cultural events held in the port city Chittagong in the last centuries. Somehow that Gray-golden era has been faded away in course of time. After so many years, it is just like a reincarnation of practicing art and culture in the mainstream schools in this city and this event is remarkable and has structured as a milestone of that.
