“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn
English DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Day was celebrated on 29th January to instill a love for reading among students. On this special day, students brought books they had completed and shared their reflections through thoughtfully crafted worksheets. The event aimed to promote independent reading, enhance comprehension skills, and foster a deeper appreciation for literature.
As we know, “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller, with great enthusiasm, students engaged in meaningful discussions about their books, offering insightful reflections on their readings. The opportunity to see their peers actively involved in reading further inspired them, creating a vibrant atmosphere of literary engagement. Completing the reflection sheets also helped refine their analytical skills and encouraged them to articulate their thoughts more effectively.
To acknowledge their dedication, outstanding students from each section were recognised as English DEAR Day Winners, celebrating their enthusiasm for reading, writing, and literary exploration. According to J.K. Rowling “I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.”
