CIDER Science Fair-2016 (Cambridge Curriculum) organized by CIDER International School, Chittagong was held on 10th November 2016. All Cambridge curriculum students participated in this grand event.
The objectives of the Science Fair were to familiarize the prodigious students of CIDER with the development of Science and Technology to adopt interesting diversity of science in real life sustaining the harmony of the nature and to introduce ‘The Future World of Science’ to students.
The inaugural ceremony held in the school premises began with the national anthem performed by the students of CIDER International School.
The Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Anwar, Vice Chancellor of Port City University and founder chairman of Microbiology Department, University of Chittagong inaugurated the fair. He said in his inaugural address: “God is the scientist of all scientists in the universe. He created all to utilize science for the growth and development of the universe, especially the mankind.”
During the inaugural speech he mainly focused on the innovations done by the great scientists. He has given a message for our students that not only the scientists of developed countries have great contribution in this universe but also the great Bangladeshi scientists have contributed in this realm to
develop the diverse technology. He said, we are in great threat due to resistant microbes, climate change and corrupt practices of our life style.
Because of these issues with other factors our genes are being mutated resulting disease, cancer and damage of the biodiversity. So, this is the high time to think for our next generation. He called upon our students, especially the young prodigies of Science, to take the responsibility for the nations. After the inauguration, the Chief guest opened the exhibition of science fair projects
done by students of Junior School in the presence of honorable Founder President of Cider Board of Management, Prof. Dr. Rabiul Husain, the esteemed Principal, Vice Principal, Head of Junior School and honorable judges.
The judges Dr. Rezuanul Hoque Associate Professor, Dept. of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, University of Chittagong, Dr. Sabuj Chowdhury Assistant Professor, Dept. of Applied Physics and Telecommunication, University of Chittagong, and Mr. Basudev Rudrha, lecturer, Dept. of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Chittagong judged the projects displayed by students of class VI to A2 .
All Section Heads, Coordinators and all teachers of different faculties were present for the inaugural session and witnessed the exhibition. Inaugural session started at 9:30 am. Project exhibition began at 10:00 am and ended at 2:30 pm. Two hundred and ten students participated for 52 projects and 42 students of them were awarded from different groups for their excellent and innovative projects. The students were divided into three groups as per the hierarchy of their classes, namely, A (VI – VII), B (VIII – X) and C (AS – A2).
Though we had some shortcomings, overall, the programme was organized very well. I, as a coordinator, especially would like thank to the honorable Principal, Vice Principal, Head of Junior School, Manager Operations, all HoDs of science department, all Senior School science teachers, members of science fair management committee, staff for extending all kinds of supports for organizing the Cider Science Fair-2016. Finally I wish to confer all the credits on the students who successfully accomplished the Cider Science Fair-2016.
