In a battle of wits and eloquence, a fierce competition of words and arguments was organized by CIDER International School. On 14 September 2023, ten schools from across the city gathered at the Multi-Purpose Hall for a day of spirited debates and intellectual exchange. Hosted by Mr. Moitreya Barua and Mr. Debashish Baul, the young debaters showcased exceptional skills, presenting persuasive arguments.

Motion:

“Artificial Intelligence will eliminate creative and imaginative endeavour of the human race.”

The panel of judges, consisting of Engineer Pradip Kumar Dutta, Ms. Duhita Chowdhury, and Mr. Alam Khorshed, brought their expertise to bear in evaluating the performances. Their discerning judgments ensured a fair and rigorous competition. Adding a touch of grandeur to the event was Chief Guest AR Ashik Imran, the Honorary Consul General of The Russian Federation in Chittagong. His presence underscored the importance of fostering debating skills among the youth.

Among the formidable competitors, CIDER International School’s CC section stood out as a shining example of debating prowess. The team’s eloquence and compelling arguments secured them top honors in multiple categories.

Sharman Sharar of CIDER CC clinched the first prize in the ‘FOR the motion’ category, while Anagh Tripathi from the same team secured the top spot in the ‘AGAINST the motion’ category. These victories were a testament to the rigorous training and unwavering dedication of the CIDER CC team.

CIDER International School’s success at the competition is a reflection of the institution’s commitment to holistic development. Under the guidance of Principal Mr. G.C. Tripathi, the school has created an environment that nurtures not only academic excellence but also critical thinking and effective communication.

The event commenced with a warm welcome speech from Mr. G.C. Tripathi, setting the tone for a day of spirited competition. The session concluded with a gracious vote of thanks from Mr. Pranesh Ranjan Das, Section Head, Cambridge Curriculum, expressing gratitude to all participants, judges, guests, and organizers for making the event a resounding success.
